The family went to the State Fair this year on September 30 - 1 week and 1 day before my due date. While I really thought the weather had cooled off, which it had compared to the crazy August temperatures, it turned out that 87 degrees was still miserably hot for a 9-month pregnant woman. Oh well, a good time was still had by all. My dad, Bev, Larry, and Jacob all came with us to join in the festivities.
Last year, the giraffe was very shy when we were there. But this year, the giraffe was very cooperative and stayed near us for good feeding and photo opps.
We all took turns in front of Big Tex for our photos, though all of the decent shots are up close enough that you can't even see Big Tex. Julia was having a rough afternoon and was in no mood for posed photos, but Jacob was a great sport all day:

She found a whale ride that really interested her. Probably stems from her obsession with watching Diego and all the ocean animal rescues they do. Here she's getting excited, but it hasn't started yet:
These next 2 pictures are priceless to Jarret and me because they capture the sheer delight of both kids when the ride first started:
Julia cried when the whale ride was over and whined about wanting to ride again. We convinced her to try out the motorcycles with Jacob. She didn't like it nearly as much as the whales though:
